Searching inside dropdown lists

Dropdown lists with many options (projects, clients, people…) open with a search field. With 200 clients there is no need to scroll the list: type part of the name.

How to use it

1. Click the list (for example “No client”) or focus it with the keyboard.
2. Type: only the options containing what you type remain. It ignores case and accents (“cafeteria” finds “Cafetería”), and with several words all of them must appear.
3. Choose with a click or with ↑ ↓ and Enter. Esc closes without changing anything.

With the keyboard, just start typing while the list is focused and it opens with that letter already entered. On a phone it opens as a sheet sliding up from the bottom, with the keyboard ready.

Details

• Short lists (priority, status…) stay as before: a search would be overkill there.
• With more than 300 matches the first 300 are shown, with a note to keep typing.
• The chosen option is highlighted with a ✓ mark.
